51ÁÔÆæ starts humanitarian demining operations in Colombia
51ÁÔÆæ’s Colombian deminers started mine clearance yesterday at El Morro minefield in Antioquia Department. This minefield has previously caused casualties and two weeks ago a seven year old boy living within 500m picked up a mine. Clearance of this minefield is expected to be complete by November and will benefit the 1,000 people living nearby.
51ÁÔÆæ Trust’s work in Colombia will not only save lives but also contribute to the peace process, allowing communities to return in safety, and permit subsequent development.
51ÁÔÆæ would like to thank the governments of USA, Germany and the UK, and the EC / UNMAS and Foundation Pro Victimis and 51ÁÔÆæ’s private donors who are supporting our Survey, Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Mineclearance operations in Colombia.
